Spelling and Vocabulary List-

Spelling List:
  1. translate- to put in a different language
  2. transfigure- to change in form or appearance
  3. transition- a passing from one state, subject, place to another
  4. transport- to carry from one place to another
  5. epidermis- the outer layer of skin
  6. epistle- a letter or message which commonly includes a set of directions
  7. epitaph- a short tribute to a person; an inscription on a tomb
  8. epitome- an ideal representative
  9. episode- a happening in real life or in a story
  10. bounteous- plentiful; generous
  11. perilous- full of danger
  12. virtuous- good; pure; upright
  13. haughty-arrogantly superior; disdainful (Antonym- humble)
  14. abbreviate-shorten (Antonym- lengthen)
  15. cordial- friendly (Antonym- unfriendly)
Reading Vocabulary:
  1. furrow- to make a trail in the groups or on the surface
  2. impertinent- not showing proper respect; rude
  3. mock- to tease or taunt
  4. writhing- making continual twisting and turning movements
  5. derision- to make fun of

  8. obstinate- stubborn; unyielding
  9. objective- something aimed at; a goal

  12. drudgery- something hard or uninteresting
  13. crockery- pottery; earthenware
  14. quicken- to make lively or active
  15. enlighten- to make more informed

  3. indignantly- angered at someone or something that is wrong or feeling anger or scorn
