Teacher's Note

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" -Philippians 4:6-7

     A friend of mine sent me this verse this morning, and it felt like a breath of fresh air.  I think in the midst of our work week, we sometimes loose track of what is most important.  Our Lord has everything in the palm of his hand, and we need to be good stewards of his creation.  He will give us peace in the hardest and busiest of times.  We also need to be patient and know that he is in control of everything; even today's rather hectic Speech Meet!  6th grade did an excellent job on their speeches, by the way.  Pictures to be posted soon!

Just a reminder!

The research paper is due Friday!!!!!!  Please make sure it is 5 pages typed, and double spaced!  They have already gotten back their rough drafts, which were wonderful by the way!  Keep working on it and remember; revision is important.  Your research paper is supposed to show you have actively taken the time and invested your interest in these topics.  Think about what you really want to say, how you need to express that to make sense to your reader, and why that is important for you to share.  Keep up the good work guys!  Don't forget to use the appropriate conjunctions:

Coordinating conjunctions: and, but, either…or, neither…nor.
Subordinate conjunctionsthat, as,if, after,unless, before, since, when, where.

Grammar Rock Adjective

Just a funny little ditto on using Adjectives. Children are using the appropriate usage of adjectives using specific endings of words and how they are used to describe things.

Learning Adjectives

Copyright Justin Barr Photography
          A picture says a thousand words, and in the 6th grade, we are learning the powerful meaning those words can convey.  With the use of adjectives, students are learning to create their own masterpieces using a very special medium: Words.  6th grade is learning how adjectives are used to describe things such as a scenic picture like the one above.  Snowy mountains and Cloudy skies are just a few of the many wonderful examples given by the class.

A Child's Thought of God-Elizabeth Barrett Browning

By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
They say that God lives very high;
But if you look above the pines

You cannot see our God; and why?

And if you dig down in the mines,
You never see Him in the gold,
Though from Him all that's glory shines.

God is so good, He wears a fold
Of heaven and earth across His face,
Like secrets kept, for love, untold.

But still I feel that His embrace
Slides down by thrills, through all things made,
Through sight and sound of every place;

As if my tender mother laid
On my shut lids her kisses' pressure,
Half waking me at night, and said,
"Who kissed you through the dark, dear guesser?"
